Like snow? Consider alpine, telemark, or cross country skiing on Mount Hood, at Mount Hood Meadows, Timberline, or Skibowl. You can also snow shoe and cross country ski on many trails and almost anywhere there is snow.
Ride the wind! Windsurfing has something for everyone, from beginner to expert, super swell and waves to laid back surf. Sights are on either side of the Columbia, east to west, Oregon to Washington.
If hiking is your thing,choose a trail, lace up your hiking boots, and go. In the spring wildflowers are abundant on Catherine Creek in Washington and Tom McCall State Park in Oregon; in the heat of the summer, Oneonta gorge will keep you cool; watch the leaves and vegetation change in the fall on the Old Highway/Twin Tunnels trail; a snow shoe winter hike on Mount Adams is wonderful for solitude!
Bike up or down a multitude of trails with varying degrees of intensity! Try a tandem bike (that’s a bicycle built for two) or any of the new hybrids, on or off road, single or double track.
Kayaking and river rafting are popular on the White Salmon, Klickitat and Wind rivers.
